#1 Tre’ Wood, 6’2″ 180, PG, St. John’s College HS, Washington, DC, 2018.Team Takeover 17 & U Roster:
Tre Wood is one of the best pass first PGs in the Mid Atlantic and he has received several D1 offers to date which include Virginia Tech. Tre is an excellent on ball defender and he has become a complete player on offense. This past season Tre proved he can knock down the 3 pointer and excel in transition or in the half court.
Prep Hoops Staff recently said, “Tre Wood is a pass-first playmaker with tremendous speed and quickness. Wood led the camp in assists, and gets into the paint almost any time he wants. Wood can pass with both hands, and takes pride in accurately delivering timely passes to open teammates. Wood can shoot the ball from the perimeter, and score in the paint. He will need to continue to improve his consistency, and decision making while developing a more reliable middle game.”
#3, Anthony Harris, 6’3″, 185, CG, Paul VI HS, Fairfax, VA, 2019.
Anthony is a consensus top 60 recruit in the nation and he has been well scouted. He was awarded 1st Team VISAA Sophomore All State Team by Prep Hoops and Anthony has several D1 offers which include WVU.
Prep Hoops Senior Writer Adam Ayalew said this spring, “Anthony is one of the most complete guards in his class, Anthony Harris has demonstrated an outstanding skill level along with consistent aggression and tenacity on both ends of the court. At 6-foot-3 and still growing, Harris is able to be effective on or off the ball. He is a capable 3 point threat who also has the ability to break down defenders off the bounce, get into the paint, and create for others as well as finish efficiently with either hand around the rim. Defensively, he plays an engaged brand, and exhibits solid instincts. Harris reacts well to passing lanes, and rebounds well for his position.” He also said after Paul VIs win over Cape Henry in the Virginia VISAA State Semifinals in March, “Anthony Harris understands the game, and more often than not makes the correct play. He always goes hard and rebounds. Sneaky athlete, and good leaper. Came up clutch when his team needed him most. Great touch around the basket with either hand
Senior Staff Writer Jack Herron said on April 17 after a Team Loaded scrimmage, “Harris is great off the bench for this group because he can guard multiple positions and play on or off the basketball. They have plenty of PGs and ball handlers, but his ability to move off the ball and make shots will give him an immediate role off the bench. He
#4 Xavier Johnson, 6’2″ 180, PG Bishop O’Connell HS, Arlington, VA, 2018.
Senior Staff Writer Jack Herron said on 4-10-17, “Johnson was phenomenal as a floor general, especially in transition where he pushed the pace on turnovers and made shots and created for others in the open floor. He has good end to end speed and he’s so quick in and out of his cuts that he’s able to get in the lane and draw the eyes of defenders. He showed good vision, made good decisions and was able to create for others in isolation situations throughout the game.”
Adam Ayalew wrote this about Xavier in his Top 10 2019 DMV PG article on 2-1-17, “Among players on this list, Xavier Johnson is probably among the most valuable to his team. Considered a pass-first point guard, Johnson has scored in double-digits for 6 straight games, including 30 last night. Johnson has converted on 73 of his 82 attempts from the foul line this season.”
#5 Brandon Slater, G 6’6″ 190, G/WF, Paul VI HS, Fairfax, VA , 2018.
Brandon is a consensus top 50 recruit in the nation and he has many D1 offers which include Maryland, Villanova and Virginia. Brandon has a very long wingspan which he utilizes very well on both sides of the ball. He is great in transition and can finish at the rim with dynamic high flying dunks. Brandon has proven he can hit the 3 pointer and he possesses very high basketball IQ to go along with fantastic passing skills. Brandon was awarded 1st Team Virginia VISSA All State Junior team this spring by Prep Hoops.
Prep Hoops recently said,”The high major prospect is going to thrive at the next level, and particularly on the defensive end. Slater was huge in their press, using his length to make passing over the top difficult and he got back when the press was broke to protect the rim. He’s a good help side defender, willing to take charges or protect the rim, and he’s able to guard both on the perimeter and in the post. His versatility on both ends of the floor was on full display, and if he continues to buy in defensively he’ll be a big time recruit moving forward.”
#10 Wynston Tabbs, 6’3″ 185, WG, St. Mary’s Ryken HS, Leonardtown, MD, 2018.
Wynston is having an excellent spring for TTO and he has begun to receive D1 offers. He has the potential to crack the Top 100 national rankings fro 2018.
Prep Hoops Senior Staff Writer said on 3-27-17 at the Metro Challenge, “Wynston Tabbs helped himself perhaps more than anyone else with his performance at camp. Dances with the ball. Was second in the camp in scoring (21 PPG), and first in free throws made/attempted. Crafty finisher in traffic, but still inconsistent as a long-range shooter. Good in PNR. Quick and active hands defensively. Good at stripping the ball. Good feel.”
Senior Staff Writer Adam Ayalew saw Wynston at The Metro Challenge 60 this March and said,”One of the more intriguing local 2018 prospects, Wynston Tabbs is quickly building a strong resume, and should be considered a top-tier option at the lead guard spot. Tabbs exhibits improved consistency and confidence in his perimeter jump shot, and is a very good paint getter and creative finisher at the rim.”
Senior Writer Adam Ayalew wrote this Recruit Report last July for Wynston:

#11 Myles Dread, 6’4″ 195, WG, Gonzaga HS,Washington, DC, 2018.
Myles helped lead Gonzaga HS to a 32-5 and a #8 national ranking by Max Preps. Due to his total team attitude and unselfishness, Myles is one of the most underrated players in the nation. He proved to be one of Gonzaga’s alpha dog players last year and perhaps was their toughest. Myles has become a very consistent 3 point and pull up shooter in addition to being able to play bully ball in the paint. He is a fantastic defender and Myles has committed to play for Penn State.
At the Metro Challenge in late march, Senior Staff Writer Adam Ayalew said, ” Myles Dread was on fire in the first game set, and didn’t slow down from there. The versatile 6’4 guard led the event in scoring, made threes, and made field goals. Dread’s versatility was on display defensively, where he actively, alertly, and effectively defended both on the perimeter and in the post.”
#13, Justin Moore, 6’3″ 190, G, DeMatha HS, Hyattsville, MD 2019.
Justin is a top 75 recruit nationally, but he has not played this spring for Team Takeover. We will be writing a Rewriting Report for Justin this week.
#23 Jalen Smith, 6’10”, 210, F, Mt. St. Joseph HS, Baltimore, MD, 2018.
Jalen has grown to a long 6’10” and he is one of the most coveted big men in the nation for 2018. He has numerous D1 offers which include Maryland, Villanova and Virginia. Jalen has developed a skill set of a stretch 4 but there is much more to his game. Jalen has excellent rim protection ability, polished low post moves and rebounding skills. Additionally, he can dribble drive to the basket from the wing or drill a 3 pointer.
Senior Staff Writer Jack Herron said this spring “Sticks,” as his teammates call him, showed why he was the Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year as just a junior. The 6’8” big man out of Baltimore was a force inside, finishing everything in the paint and killing the glass on both ends. He showed good touch with both hands, stepped out and shot the midrange jumper and made good decisions when double teamed. He can run the floor and protect the paint, and if he adds strength to his upper body he’ll be ready for high major college basketball when he steps on campus.”
#24 Aapeli Syrjamaki, 7’1″, 220, C, St. Mary’s Ryken HS, Leonardtown, MD, 2018.
Aapeli is a very smooth and coordinated big, but he must get stronger. We expect his role to increase this coming season at St. Mary Ryken HS and he is starting to make some noise this spring for TTO.
Prep Hoops Senior Staff Writer Adam Ayalew wrote a Recruiting Report for Aapeli this spring in the link below:
https://prephoops.com/2017/03/prospect-spotlight-aapeli-syrjamaki-2018/
#32 Bryce Golden, 6’9″ 230, St. James School, Hagerstown, MD, 2018.
Bryce is a very well built forward who can score from the perimeter and in the post. He recently received an offer from the University of Maryland. Bryce has played very well this spring for TTO and he is currently a top 75 player in the nation for 2018.
Prep Hoops said last weekend, “Bryce Golden had a solid showing vs. Southern Stampede, where he recorded a double double of 12 PTS and 10 REB. The sturdily built 6’8 forward is a high motor, high level athlete who crashes the boards and likes to get up and down in transition. Golden led Team Takeover in rebounding at 6.8 per game, and continues to improve his half court game as well.”
Senior Staff Writer Adam Ayalew wrote after a St. James games this past season, “Bryce Golden is developing a consistent perimeter shot, and it’s really helping expand his overall offensive game. The sturdily built 6’8 forward is also an excellent passer out of the low post, and doesn’t mind contact when finishing at the rim. Golden scored 15 points. ”
Senior Staff Writer Jack Herron recently said, “First thing you see when you look at Golden is his massive shoulders and strong frame in his upper body, and he used that strength to finish around the basket all game. He finished above the rim in transition, used the rim to protect himself down low and was able to use his strength to finish through contact. He also shot it well from the mid range and banged down low on the glass on both ends.”
#10 Jeremy Roach, 6’1″, PG, Paul VI HS, Fairfax, VA, 2020.
Photo courtesy of the Washington Post
Jeremy is one of the top PGs in the nation for 2020 and he has already received an offer from the University of Miami and interest from Kentucky and WVU.
Last season Jeremy started for Paul VI as a true freshmen and helped lead the Panthers to a 28 -6 record in the WCAC. He is very athletic and excels at getting into the paint off the dribble and can score at all 3 levels. Jeremy can shoot the 3 ball in spot ups and off the dribble and he is becoming a very good defender. Jeremy uses his body very well to create spacing and he can get to wherever he wants on the floor with his great ball handling skills. When the 2020 national rankings come out we expect Jeremy to be ranked in the top 25 players.
#22 Hunter Dickinson, 7’0″, DeMatha HS, Hyattsville, MD, 2020.
This past year Hunter started on many occasions for DeMatha HS as a true freshmen. We were very impressed with his fundamentals, coordination and poise for such a young big. Hunter has excellent footwork in the post and he is learning to use both hands. He has excellent shot mechanics and he turns his hips very quickly for his offensive moves, gaining low post and rebounding position. We saw Hunter mix it up several times and go the floor for loose balls this season displaying a no back down game. In summary, if Hunter stays on course he the has potential to be a 5 star recruit in his senior year. The 2020 class is loaded in the DMV and Maryland / DC and we feel Hunter will be a top 25 national recruit when the 2020 national rankings are published. Hunter has already received offers from Penn State and Notre Dame and he is receiving heavy interest from Maryland.
