April 14, 2017, Randallstown, MD
Team BBC 17 & U is a loaded team and won both their games today in The BBC Adidas Spring Classic vs the DC Blue Devils and NY Lightning in impressive fashion.
Below is the video highlights of Team BBC’s win over a very good DC Blue Devils team yesterday.

Here is our breakdown of the BBC 17 & U roster:
1. Immanuel Quickley , 2018 , 6’4″ PG, John Carroll School (Bel Air, Maryland)
Immanuel is ranked #1 in our 2018 Maryland/DC rankings and he is a consensus top fifteen 5 star recruit. Last year he helped Team USA win a gold medal in the FIBA Under 17 World Championship. Several skills stand out just watching Immanuel warm up in the lay up line. He is a legitimate 6’4″, very long, smooth and focused. During game action, Team BBC sets run thru Immanuel and he is always one step ahead making the correct decision. He is an excellent facilitator, floor general and a flat out winner. Immanuel has the ability to take over a game offensively if it is needed and he utilizes his wingspan in a tremendous fashion on both sides of the ball. He takes great angles to the basket and makes difficult conversions look easy. Immanuel can dribble penetrate finishing at the rim or set up & run the half court. He has shown the ability to shoot 3s off the dribble and convert floaters on a consistent basis. Please see our excellent interview with Immanuel by our Senior Staff Writer Adam Ayalew below.

We feel Immanuel is in great shape with his Coaches for Team BBC and his Head Coach at John Carroll, John Zito pictured below with Immanuel.
2. Montez Mathis, 2018, 6’5′ , WG , John Carroll School (Bel Air, Maryland)
Montez plays alongside Immanuel on Team BBC and at John Carroll HS in Bel Air, MD. The duo will form one of the best back courts in the USA for the 2017/18 season. He is currently ranked #9 in our 2018 Maryland /DC rankings and in the 15o range nationally in most recruiting sites. However, we feel Montez can crack the top 100 this off season. He has grown an inch plus in addition to adding lean muscle. We have seen him improve his ball handling. passing skills, decision making and ability to get to the rim. Montez is a WG who can score outside/in and is always a threat to drill a 3 off the dribble or spot up. In summary, thru hard work Montez has developed into an excellent all around player. He currently holds offers from Memphis, WVU, St. Johns, Minnesota and Virginia Tech with the offer list growing.
3. Qwanzi Samuels, 2018 , 6-9, WF , St. John’s College High School (Washington, DC)
We believe Qwanzi is on the brink of putting all of his gifted talent together and becoming an excellent prospect. He appears to be still growing and is 1 to 2 inches taller than his past season at SJC in Washington, DC. Qwanzi showed his ability to score inside with his height and length, in addition to his excellent slashing ability. He has tremendous potential to become a high level defender and we feel Qwanzi will make a substantial leap upward in his rankings. He already has some D1 offers and we will be writing a Recruiting Report for Quannzi this spring.
4. Zachary Pfaffenberger, 2018, 6’8″, Forward ,Episcopal High School (Alexandria, Virginia)
Zachary was very impressive today and showed ability to score inside and out. He displayed an excellent basketball IQ and is a very hard worker. Zachary brings energy and hustle to the table and we feel he is a recruit that will be rising very fast in the rankings. We will be monitoring him this spring and summer and will write a Recruiting Report for him this spring.
5. Xavier Johnson, 2019 , 6’1″, PG/WG , Episcopal High School (Alexandria, Virginia)
Xavier played this past season at Episcopal HS who are members of the very tough Interstate Basketball Conference in the Washington, DC, DMV. Xavier is the only 2019 player on the BBC roster and he showed great athleticism today. Xavier is an excellent passer, ball handler and he can hit the 3. We saw him get into the paint and convert on a Euro step today. We expect a major jump in Xavier’s ranking this year and will write articles on him this spring.
6. Jaylin Andrews, 2018 , 6’4″, WG , Boys Latin School (Baltimore, Maryland)
Senior Staff Writer Coby Giacubeno wrote an excellent Recruiting Report for Jaylin on 3-4-17 in the link below.
https://prephoops.com/2017/03/recruiting-report-jaylin-andrews-2018-2/
Today we were impressed with Jaylin’s toughness, ability to score in traffic or on the perimeter. At 6’4″ he is an excellent rebounder and can really go after the ball. While Jaylin plays forward for Boys Latin HS in Baltimore, he has shown the ability to play combo guard. Additionally, Jaylin displayed great hops on several plays and is another Team BBC 17 & U player whose rankings will make a leap upward.
7. Jordon Jones, 2018 , 6’7″, Forward , Our Lady Of Mount Carmel High School(Baltimore, MD)
Jordan was very impressive and converted on some nice mid range jumpers in the paint and from the wing. He uses his height to shield off defenders and was very consistent today. He rebounded and defended very well. We will be writing a Recruiting Report this spring for Jordon and monitoring his play.
8. Da’Shawn Phillip, 2018, 6’5″, WG , Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (Baltimore, Maryland)
Da’Shawn showed some great flashes today and defended at a high level. He converted a bucket on an excellent left handed Euro step which took a lot of skill. Da’Shawn is very tough and he will go on the floor to gather a loose ball and do whatever it takes to get a win. Additionally, we were very impressed with his basketball IQ and passing skills. During the regular season, Da’Shawn stood out when his Crimson Tide team played at Maryland 2A State Champion Patterson HS. We will be writing an updated Recruiting Report for Da’Shawn this spring and expect his rankings to move up. We feel Da’Shawn is a very valuable glue player that colleges covet.
9. Christian Jones, 2018, 6’3″. CG , Annapolis High School (Annapolis, Maryland)
Christian was huge in leading Annapolis HS to the Maryland State 4A semifinals this year. He can put the ball in the basket in transition, pull ups, and drill 3 pointers off the dribble or on spot ups. Christian can play the wing or point and his decision making was very solid today. He is an under the radar player that will be noticed this off season and receive some very good offers. We will be keeping a close eye on Christian this spring and summer and will write a Recruiting Report for him this month.
10. Brandon Watson, 2018 , 6’8 “, Forward , Our Lady Of Mount Carmel High School (Essex, Maryland)
Brandon has very good basketball skills and he is very fundamentally sound. He showed the ability to shoot from the perimeter extending to the 3 point line or score inside. Brandon is very quick off his feet and has very good hands. He plays in the very competitive Baltimore BCL and is improving each year since beginning to play organized basketball just 3 years ago. Brandon has a lot of upside and in our opinion will receive a scholarship to play in college. We will be writing a Recruiting Report for Brandon this spring and monitoring his play very closely. Brandon is truly an intriguing prospect.
11. Rob Goyena, 2018 , 6’4″ , Guard , Centennial High School (Columbia, Maryland)
Rob is a sharpshooting 6’4″ guard who can really shoot. We did not get a good look at Rob in the BBC Adidas Spring Classic today. We will be writing a Prospect Spotlight Report on Rob this spring.
