Smith rising in the Oklahoma 2019 Class
Shemar Smith is an intriguing 6’6 Forward for Oklahoma Power 16U. On Saturday he dominated his role for the Oklahoma Power 16U pulling down double digit number in rebounds on the Adidas Silver Circuit. He scored the ball well around the basket using his length and height to finish strong.
The athleticism of Smith gives him a chance to be a special player. He needs to work to develop his handles and outside game. If Smith can develop his outside shot and improve his ball handling skills it would take his game to another level. Right now Smith is a player Division I programs should have on their radar. He is not there yet, but Smith certainly has a chance to land at a low major if he can improve his jumper and handles.
The motor of Smith is what separates him from others on the floor. On both ends of the floor Smith is constantly working to do whatever he can to give his team the best chance to win. Smith posted a double-double on Saturday with his ability to score in the paint and mid-range to go along with his rebounding at a high level. On defense Smith does a great job of timing his jump to swat and adjust opponents shots.
Smith has a long way to go, but the foundation for him to become a top ten player in the 2019 Oklahoma Class is there. Smith attends Norman North High School.
