Recruiting Report: Tobin Schwannecke (2018)
It’s a big spring and summer ahead for TC Central’s 6-foot-3 point guard Tobin Schwannecke, who will be playing on the adidas Circuit and hoping to ramp up his recruitment.
The sophomore playmaker is an all-around talent, and recently finished up a very successful season with the Trojans.
He defined his playing style to PHMI, and what it is that makes him a high-level prospect.
“I would say just getting into the paint and making the right decision is a strength of mine, and also just making shots from the perimeter and my vision as a passer,” said Schwannecke.
After averaging 16 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals per game as a sophomore, he was named all-region and all-conference.
“My role on the team was to set up every shot; whether it was driving to the paint and dishing it out to the open guy, or taking the shot myself,” said Schwannecke, who elaborated on his high steals numbers.
“I would always guard the other team’s best player and just use my length and be smart not to reach, and always have my hands in the crossover lanes. And then I got a lot of steals while getting into the passing lane, just disguising it like I’m not looking, and then popping out.”
This spring and summer he has the opportunity to play with the Michigan Mustangs on the adidas Circuit.
He’s hoping it helps get his recruitment off the ground.
“There’s been several schools that have invited me to their camps. But really the only school I’ve talked to one-on-one is Saginaw Valley (State),” said Schwannecke.
“I just really want to maximize the amount of exposure I get, and hopefully get some looks from some Division I schools this spring — that’s my main goal. And then just perform well as a team and make some noise.”
