Recruiting Report: Rodwens Albert (2018)
This past season, 2018 guard Rodwens Albert made his presence felt early and often in games.
The 6’0″, 170-pounder helped Atlantic reach the Class 9A region quarterfinal before losing to Wellington. The rising senior averaged 20.1 points, 5.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds for the 18-10 Eagles.
He’s drawn interest from USC, Illinois and FGCU.
Albert said this is what he took away from his junior campaign.
“I learned that I had an ability to score the ball from all different types of areas. Also, that to be an elite guard and player, in general, you must compete against the best competition,” Albert told Prep Hoops Florida. “Being at Atlantic gave me a taste of that and it also helped me see what it’s like to carry a team on my back and also helped me games expand on defenses.”
He considers himself a combo guard who runs the point first and foremost. After earning Sun Sentinel All-County First Team honors and Palm Beach All-County First Team honors, Albert is ready for the summer ahead.
Albert played for the Boynton Heat this past weekend at the Disney Easter Classic and boy did he put on a show. Against the Tampa Titans 17U, he dropped 23 points in the first half and routinely hit from outside.
He’ll be running with the South Florida Kings starting this weekend in Atlanta. He says he is focused on getting his name out there and receiving his first college scholarship before the end of the summer.
Starting basketball at the age of 11, Albert pointed to his biggest strengths as his ability to score in different ways and his ability to recognize what type of game he needs to have in order for his team to win.
At first glance, he does a lot of things that surprise you. Albert finds his way onto the open floor often and his shot is seasoned. His aggressive style of play stands out and will certainly get him more looks this summer. The 2018 guard will earn an offer here very soon.
