Recruiting Report: Parker Edwards (2018)
One of the best prospects in Louisiana’s 2018 class, St. Paul’s 6-foot-3 guard Parker Edwards already has one Division I offer in tow, and is hoping to see several more roll in this summer.
Last September, he picked up his first offer offer from Southeastern. And he’s seen one other local school show slight interest.
“Northwestern State has been looking at me, and a couple other schools have been talking to my high school coach,” said Edwards, who discussed a visit taken to Southeastern.
“I went to one of their games in February and I really like it. I like their players, they all kind of play like me.”
A good-sized combo-guard, Edwards says his strength is his shooting ability, but he’s a fair distributor as well.
“When I’m out there on the floor I really like to space the floor, I shoot the ball really well, and I can even create my own shot. My basketball IQ is pretty good, higher than the average 17 year old,” he said.
“I rebound the ball well and see the court really well, and then I just like to get to the hoop and score.”
As a junior with the Wolves, Edwards was fantastic; both scoring and distributing.
“My role mostly was to score and just facilitate for others,” he said. “I think I played pretty well, I think I averaged 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, so I think I had a pretty good season.”
This spring and summer, Edwards will spend his 17U season with NOLA Basketball Club in its inaugural season.
“I really like the whole coaching staff, I think they’re really good. And I just wanted to get some exposure, and they play on the Powerade Circuit,” said Edwards.
“I don’t really have any specifics that I’m looking for (with my recruitment), I’m just trying to get a lot more schools to come look at me. And If I can get a lot more offers then I’ll start narrowing it down.”
