Recruiting Report: Nate Maudlin
6’5 SF Nate Maudlin of Judge Memorial High School has become the latest player to commit to play basketball for a NWAC school. Nate was a minimal contributor his junior year for Judge Memorial but throughout the summer he worked really hard with his AAU program on making himself a versatile player. Nate also spent some time in the weight room working on his strength. This past year Nate was not only able to put that hard work to good use, he was able to help 1st year coach Tim Gardner make his team competitive again. Nate lead the team in scoring (12 ppg), rebounding (5 rpg) and was 2nd on the team in made three-pointers. Nate reached double figures 13 times this year and had multiple double digit rebounding games.
Nate Maudlin has decided to commit to Skagit Valley Community College, WA. Skagit Valley lost 7 games by 10 points or less last season and they hope that a versatile player like Nate can help them as he can play multiple positions on both offense and defense. Nate will join a team that only losses 4 players to graduation which will give him time to grow and develop but contribute as well.
Having seen Nate play multiple times in high school and on the AAU circuit he is an underrated passer who is fundamentally sound. He runs the floor well and finds weak spots in the defense in the perimeter or in the short-corner that help free up his teammates.
Nate said that he chose Skagit Valley because, “I feel like this will give me the best opportunity as a basketball player to take my game to the next level.” We agree that Nate can and will turn into a great player when his two years are up at Skagit Valley. Congratulations to Nate Maudlin on his commitment.
