Recruiting Report: Lezjon Bonds (2018)
Lincoln’s 6-foot-1 point guard Lezjon Bonds has a big summer ahead with the Northwest Panthers, and could see some of his D1 interest materialize into offers before too long.
There’s at least three D1 programs that he says are close to offering him a scholarship, and a few others that are still in the mix.
“No offers yet, but Pepperdine is really close, Hawaii is really close and Central Arkansas is too,” said Bonds.
“It (recruitment) all started my freshman year when Boise State first started to come to our open gyms to come talk to me, and it was them and Seattle U. And then schools like Portland State got involved.”
Bonds added: “I’ve texted all of the coaches and have communicated to all of them. Central Arkansas came to watch me in open gym and have come to talk to me. I’m going to a Washington State camp next month, and I’ve talked with Hawaii.”
A versatile playmaker, Bonds says he’s able to play the game however it needs to be played, and he’s able to adapt well to different scenarios on the court.
“It just depends on the group of guys I’m playing with; I can either be a set scorer or a pass-first point guard,” said Bonds, who explained his role as a junior with the state-qualifying Abes.
“I didn’t really have a set role with my team, I wasn’t told to do this or do that; I was just supposed to go out there and play basketball.”
Now, he shifts his focus to a very important final offseason with the 17U Northwest Panthers, a program he’s been with for nearly a decade.
“Basically, the program itself has been with me since third-grade, and this summer I’m looking forward to just getting better and seeing improvements every day,” said Bonds.
“The ultimate goals is to just get exposure and showcase my talent.”
