Recruiting Report: Casey Morsell (2019)
Casey Morsell turned in a breakout sophomore campaign for St. John’s College High, and appears to only be improving as the evaluation period is upon us. Morsell played a key role for Team Takeover 16U in their Championship during EYBL Session 1, and received respective scholarship offers from Penn State and George Mason.
“I’ve always been in the gym because of my brother,” A 2014 St. John’s grad, Casey’s brother Mike was named Third Team All-CAA at Towson this season. “My brother is five years older than me, so that’s how I started.”
While his older brother is known as a dead eye three point shooter, the younger Morsell has worked hard to improve that aspect of his game. He made a team-high 52 threes this season at St. John’s which was good enough to lead the team.
“I try to give everything,” said Morsell about his playing style. “I try to do both. Defensively. Offensively.”
Morsell joked about how poor his ball handling was as a freshman. “I could barely dribble around the court. Now I’m starting to get some pat.”
To go along with his latest offers, Morsell has two others from Towson and Binghamton. South Carolina, Maryland, and Temple are reported to be expressing interest, but Morsell still isn’t satisfied and continues to work on his overall game.

“Pretty much everything. I think everything. You can never stop improving,” said Morsell about what he needs to work on. “Jump shot. Finishing through contact. Defending. Full court. Just everything.”
Morsell carries a 3.3 GPA at St. John’s, but says he could probably do better. What does he think he can bring to a college program?
“Strong Leadership. Jump shot. Defense. Pretty much everything.”
