Five Points
- This is already event four for this team this weekend. D1 has Texas Pro, Mass Rivals, Stackhouse Elite, and Game Elite. Out of this group only Mass Rivals has played in a name event yet and they plays some EYBl teams in the NHRR event out east.
- D1 is banged up. Matthew Hurt is out all month likely with his hand injury and Duoth Gach has been out with an ankle injury. That said this team still has talent but they haven’t quite gelled the way they want to yet. They did solid in Arkansas, won the Comets event despite some tough moments, and they of course lost to 43 Hoops when they played for the first time without Hurt. They will need Wishart, Thompson, and Mitchell to really step up in Hurt’s absence.
- Anders Nelson and Both Gach were excellent up in St. Cloud. Both were named all event team for their performances. Gach scored 11 a game slashing and hitting in the corner while Nelson was outstanding down the stretch of the final and semi-final. He was the team’s third leading scorer in St. Cloud.
- Recruiting! With Hurt out it will be interesting to see what teams show up to see Race Thompson. I would expect Iowa State and Minnesota there every time and Marquette often there as well. What about the others? Now is the time for Wishart, Shae, and the Gachs to really make a name for themselves. Eyes will be on them closely, now is their chance to see what they can do.
- This team is playing five straight weekends. After the four games this weekend they will be in Atlanta next weekend for Adidas Uprising Session two.
