Prospect Spotlight: Manny Jingco (2018)
The Minnesota Fury always always seem to put together multiple good teams. Fury Antl might not technically be the top Fury team, but it’s got a bevy of really good players. Manny Jingco is one of those guys that might not immediately stand out, but does a lot of little things that help his team win.
Jingco, a combo guard from Stillwater is one of the team’s top shooters and defenders and early in the season he’s helped them pick up a lot of wins.
“We’ve been going good,” said Jingco. “We’ve beaten some good teams, we’ve had some struggles at times but overall things have been good.”
Jingco is a scoring machine for his high school team and was at times the Ponies’ only reliable scorer. But for Fury Antl, he’s more of a shooter on the offensive end while drawing the opposing team’s top player. He’s got great quickness and anticipation on the defensive end which helps make up for lack of great size and he’s got a toughness that allows him to play hard pressure defense full court.
On the offensive end, he’s a knockdown shooter and while he’s not necessarily the team’s primary facilitator, he takes great care of the ball and can make plays in the flow of the offense.
“We’ve been doing great offensively,” said Jingco. “We’ve got a lot of guys that can play and we already kind of know each other well so we fit together. We’ve got some things to clean up on the defensive side but we’ve done well so far.”
Jingco said that St. Mary’s and Crown have been the two schools in contact with him at this point in the process and that he’s hoping to play college hoops. He said the biggest part of his game he wants to continue to improve at is his ability to drive and create his own offense off the dribble.
Fury Antl is a fun team to watch and they’ve got a number of players who stand out. Jingco can fly under the radar a little at times because of that, but when the team needs somebody to make a play, he’s proven he’s more than capable of supplying it on either end of the floor.
