Prospect Spotlight: Logan Wolf (2019)
One of Iowa’s most improved players over the past 12 months, Cedar Falls 6-foot-4 guard Logan Wolf has been turning heads with regularity so far this spring.
After a winter starting with one of 4A’s best squads. Wolf is now playing — and starring — with one of the nation’s best grassroots quads, Iowa Barnstormers 16U.
He defined what is is he brings to that team.
“I try to be a leader, and I try and get to the hoop and play defense and I use my length to do that. I’ve been working on getting the confidence to get more shots up during games, and score more for my team,” said Wolf.
The tall and rangy guard was especially good when we saw him against D1 Minnesota two weekends ago in Madison, WI. He was crucial down the stretch while helping lead the ‘Stormers to a win. .
“I think getting stronger, and getting in the weight-room and continually getting up shots has helped me be more confident in what I can do,” he said. “And so far this AAU season has been really good for me, and I’m just going to try and keep it going and have a big sophomore summer.”
As a sophomore with the Tigers, Wolf took a backseat to the state’s second best player, AJ Green. But he was still vital to the team’s’ success while averaging 6.9 points per game and dishing out a team-best 3.2 assists per game.
“I had to score when my team needed it, and play defense. And I was more of a leader, we needed underclassmen to step up and fill that role, and I found myself doing those kind of things,” said Wolf.
With his great size, length and ever-improving skill-set, it won’t be too long before his currently dormant recruitment becomes very active.
“Right now I’ve got no interest or anything like that,” he said. “But this summer I hope to make a bigger impact with my team, and turn some heads and just see what I can do.”
