Player Profile: Dalton Renne (2018/Banks HS/Team Fly)
When Dalton Renne walked off the court for the last time as a high school junior, he did so having helped Banks High School to their best finish since 1985. The 6’7 2018 wing and his teammates went home with the 4th place trophy in Oregon’s Class 4A and are looking for even bigger things next season. Before that time though, Renne will focus on baseball where he’s a highly regarded pitching prospect and also on improving as a player and trying to impress college basketball scouts and coaches.
“My goal is to play college basketball, it’s been my favorite sport for as long as I can remember.” Renne will be playing this spring and summer for Team Fly and should be surrounded by a solid collection of future college players, including Matt Van Tassell, Stevie Schlabach, Filip Fullerton, and Dyshawn Hobson. “I’m excited to play with and against some of the best players in the northwest. Hopefully that will help me improve as a player.” When asked to assess his strengths and weaknesses as a player, Renne replied “my strengths are my length on the defensive end and my ability to score in a lot of different ways. Areas I need to improve on are my ball handling and physical strength, so getting in the weight room is going to be important this off season.” Renne mentioned that he and his high school coach have started to hear from many smaller colleges around the northwest, “a lot of junior colleges, D3 schools like Pacific, and NAIA programs are reaching out right now.”
Prep Hoops Oregon Evaluation:
Dalton Renne is an intriguing prospect because of his length and scoring ability. Despite a little unorthodox release, he has the ability to shoot to range as well as the ability to score at the rim. In order reach his full potential, he must work on improving his body, adding both strength and weight. Renne has a high ceiling and when he reaches the point in life where basketball is complete focus, improvement should be rapid. Should be on the radar for college programs of all levels.
