Owens shows potential
Blake Owens has great potential at 6’7 for the Oklahoma Power 17U squad on the Adidas UpRising Silver Circuit. He brought his game out in full force in Dallas this weekend turning some of his potential into production. Owens shined at the Power Forward spot on both ends of the floor.
On offense Owens showed off his improved jumper from mid-range. He even stepped out and hit a three-pointer making it look easy. Second chance points on offense were a key factor in Owens having a great weekend.
He controlled the boards on both ends of the floor. The thing that set Owens apart from others was his motor kept running non-stop. Owens was always looking for ways he could impact the game. The play that best described the motor of Owens was a turnover by Oklahoma Power at one end with Owens standing underneath his own goal, the other team threw an outlet pass, and had what looked like an easy dunk until Owens who came from the far end of the court smacked the ball off the glass. The small plays like that is what is making Owens stock rise at the Power Forward spot.
Owens projects to the high Division II to JUCO level. With a great summer with Oklahoma Power on the Adidas UpRising Circuit his projection can only improve. Owens size, hustle and toughness make him a prospect many colleges would be happy to have at the next level.
