North Central’s Kris Wilkes Wins Mr. Basketball
Last night, the biggest award of the high school basketball season was announced as North Central’s Kris Wilkes won the 2017 IndyStar Mr. Basketball award.
Wilkes, a 6’7 wing, is a national recruit and had a big senior campaign with North Central being one of the most dominant teams in the state this past year. They fell short of a State Championship run but throughout the season you saw Wilkes dominate like he ultimately will when he takes the floor at UCLA.
Kris finished his senior season averaging 22.1 points and 7 rebounds per game for North Central.
Wilkes is now the fourth Mr. Basketball award winner for North Central joining Jason Gardner, A.J. Ratliff, and Eric Gordon.
Among the other nominees, you saw Jack Nunge (Castle) go from fairly unknown to 2nd place with Malik Williams (Fort Wayne Snider) and Cooper Neese (Cloverdale) follow closely behind.
