Midwest Live!: Saturday Afternoon Standouts
2019 Gatdoar Bijiek, 6’4 SG (Beyond Ball 16U)
He notched four triples en route to a team high 16 points in the game we saw, and that could be a sign of things to come for Des Moines North the next two seasons. He’s so precise of a shooter that even when it seems he’s off a bit, he still manages to make long balls. He’s a capable ball-handler; a true shooting guard.
2019 Lino Malual, 6’2 G (Beyond Ball 16U)
We already know he’s one of the most explosive athletes in the 2019 class, probably a top-5 leaper in the state. Today he was flashing some improved handles, particularly with a nice, tight behind-the-back move. When his skill matches his explosiveness: watch out.
2019 Clifford Talton, 6’2 PG (MOKAN Select 16U)
Dazzling lead guard who may not be too far removed from plating with the EYBL MOKAN team. He was flashing some hard and tight handles, and his jumper is pure and with nice elevation. He’s a kid who’s just fun to watch. And with that skill and decent size, he looks to be a D1 prospect.
2019 Thomas Faber, 6’3 PG (All Iowa Attack Red 16U)
He’s a true point guard, who at 6’3 can see over the defense and make correct reads nearly 100 percent of the time. His jumper was streaky, but more on than off, and his veison and passing are certainly strengths. We already knew what this kid could do, and today he validated his No.15 ranking; if anything, he made a case to be higher.
2019 Collin Lister, 6’3 G (All Iowa Attack Red 16U)
What great improvements this wing has made over the past year. When we first evaluated him he was good, but his best tools were toughness and leadership. With those traits still in tact, he’s become a sneaky good ball-handler and a great passer to boot. Carlisle has a gem with Lister.
2019 Jace Davidson, 6′ G (All Iowa Attack Red 16U)
This was the first chance I’ve had to watch this Northwest Iowa standout, and he did not disappoint. His drive and sweep side-dish dime to a wide-open corner 3 was one that made me go “whoa.” And he turned on the jets late offensively, hitting a clutch tie-breaking triple late in the second half. There’s a lot to like about this point guard’s game.
2019 Evan Gauger, 6’1 PG (All Iowa Attack Red 16U)
He’s gotten taller since we last saw him play, and his skill-set has always been very high. He’s a very good shooter and ball-handler and likely an underrated passer. There’s really nothing this kid doesn’t do well offensively. He’ll post huge numbers at Indianola the next two seasons.
