Meet The Player: Tavaras Vann (2020)
Q: How did your freshman year in high school go for you?
Tavaras: Freshman went well, we went to the Championship and lost but overall we did well.
Q: What do you feel you bring personally to the team?
Tavaras: I bring energy, aggressiveness and the ability to score the ball, with the team here I feel like I bring a little of everything I’m a captain of the team and I just try to do my best win or lose.
Q: Last game you were active playing inside, do you feel that’s a strength for you as well as playing outside?
Tavaras: I can play outside pretty well but for this team coach needs me to play inside more often so that what I focus on.
Q: What’s your experience with Team Wall been like so far?
Tavaras: This is my first year with Team Wall, It’s been good, we have won a lot of games in our tournaments, and we have played in Bigshots, a tournament in Greensboro and in Fayetteville as well as in Erwin today. In all those tournaments and games this is only our 3rd game we have lost the whole time so we have been doing well.
Q: What’s some things you do on game day to mentally prepare yourself?
Tavaras: Mostly listen to music with my dad and stay focused on the upcoming game, watch basketball videos.
Q: Any video or player in particular you watch?
Tavaras: Billy Preston, Colin Sexton, Trevon Duval.
Q: So did you get to watch the Jordan Brand Classic? What did you think of those guys’ performances?
Tavaras: Colin Sexton he always does well, I feel like he’s going to do in Alabama next year, Duval started off hot and then cooled down. I try and take things from the way Colin Sexton plays and add to my game like how aggressive he is, doing everything he does with the ball.
Q: Favorite NBA Player & Team?
Tavaras: LeBron, the Warriors.
Q: Oh wow, so how do you watch the Cavs vs Warriors games then?
Tavaras: I go with the Warriors to win but I always want LeBron to play good and put on a show.
Q: As a freshman do you seek out the older players for advice?
Tavaras: I ask all the seniors what they do, how do they prepare for their games and all that so I can move up next year.
