Mayfield’s Guthrie Brothers Have Big Weekend with Pocket City (2019)
Pocket City (2019) competed in the Hoop Group Kentucky Jam Fest this weekend, going 4-1 (losing in the the Gold Bracket Championship). With a host of Kentucky prospects on their roster, Carson and Connor Guthrie both had a big weekends for PCB.
The Mayfield duo, who are twins and members of Kentucky’s very talented class of 2019, hit back to back shots to help Pocket City on to victory in one game and led in a number of statistical categories throughout the event.
Carson is currently averaging 12.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3 assists with Pocket City 2019. During his sophomore season at Mayfield, he averaged 15.1 points, shooting 56% from the field and averaging 7.2 rebounds.
Connor is currently averaging 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals for Pocket City 2019. During his sophomore season at Mayfield, he led the team in scoring with 16 points per game, shooting 54% from the field and knocking down over 90 3-pt field goals on the year. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds.
The Guthrie Brothers look to add on to the success they are having with Pocket City throughout the rest of the summer. Mayfield is primed for more success as well. Last season, Mayfield finished the year with a 23-11 record with the Guthrie’s leading the way. A loss in overtime to Graves County in the regional final was the only thing keeping them from advancing to the state tournament this year.
