Jonathan Bryant talks about his commitment to UT Chattanooga
2017 Oakleaf guard Jonathan Bryant made his college decision on Saturday.
The 6’4″, 215-pounder announced (via Twitter) that he has committed to UT Chattanooga to play for first year head coach Lamont Paris.
After averaging 18.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a junior, he did more of the same as a senior, averaging 18.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Knights.
Bryant had offers from Stetson, Troy, The Citadel and Jacksonville. He also generated interest from the likes of Florida, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Charleston Southern.
He chose UT Chattanooga for various reasons.
“Chattanooga is a great city, the people there are awesome,” Bryant told Prep Hoops Florida. “The coaching staff has a great vision and knows where they are going. I believe in it and love the fact that I will be apart of it for the next four years. The education is also great here too.”
Bryant heads to play for coach Paris, a longtime assist for Bo Ryan at Wisconsin. At his size and frame, Bryant will be a mismatch in the Southern Conference. The Mocs made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2016 and in 2009 before that.
Look for Bryant to play right away at UT Chattanooga and be a reliable piece whenever he hits the floor. This is a smart kid who works very hard.
