Grassroots TOC : Recruiting News
Prep Hoops takes a look at some news bits and some things that we saw at the
Grassroots Phenom Challenge TOC. Prep Hoops spent two full days in Greensboro,
NC focusing mostly on underclassmen.
Chisom Obidike (2017) 6’9 is a available post player from the Comenius School in Fort Mill.
Obidike has the ability to run the floor and block shots. Obidike is quite raw on the offensive
end of the floor. Obidike is a very solid student in the classroom. Obidike is playing AAU with
E.A. Prep Stars.
Darren Grainger
Darren Grainger (2018) joined up with Team All or Nothing this weekend after playing last week
with the Ascend Ballers. Grainger didn’t play at all this past season at Conway HS. Grainger 6’4
is coming back slowly from his injury and should be able to have a strong summer on the AAU circuit.
Grainger will join forces with Jimmy Nichols (2018) ranked #5 player in the 2018 Palmetto State Class.
Nichols has picked up interest from Miami (FL), Nebraska, Coastal Carolina University, Towson,
Georgetown and Murray State in the past week. Nichols 6’8 left-handed forward is playing with
Garner Road AAU this spring.
Jasean Morris
Prep Hoops came across a few names this weekend that will be hot targets for college programs in the years
to come. Jasean Morris and Joshua Beadle. Morris 6’4 (2021) currently attends Hand Middle School
in Columbia. Morris is in the Dreher school district according to close sources. Morris runs the floor and finishes
inside the paint and tends to still be growing at his young age.
Beadle was first scene by Prep Hoops during the season at Cardinal Newman. Beadle 6’1 (2021) left-handed saw
minutes on the varsity squad for the Cardinals. Morris and Beadle both play with Team United South
Carolina Black 14 based out of Columbia.
Prep Hoops will continue its coverage from the NCAA Live Period all this week long. Stay connected and
