Grassroots TOC: 15U Standouts (Part 2)
Prep Hoops took in action from the 14U, 15U and 16U ranks this weekend in
Greensboro, NC. Here is a look at some more 15U that we saw this weekend
at the Phenom Challenge TOC.
Derrick Fields
Derrick Fields, Samuel Brown and Case Roach – Travelers Rest HS – GSP Unified 15U
This trio of 2020 players is the future of the Devildogs. Prep Hoops saw GSP Unified 15U earlier in the month
in Easley, SC. Fields 6’3 wing just plays the game all-out at all times. Fields is very versatile and
plays big on the boards. Brown is the brother of Furman player Andrew Brown. Brown who’s
home schooled can attack the basket off the dribble. Roach is a all-out hustle guy who spends most of the
game on the floor either diving for a ball or taking a charge. GSP Unified defeated Team F.L.Y today
60-51.
Patrick Iriel
Patrick Iriel (2020) – A.C. Flora – Upward Stars Southeast 2020
Iriel played big the first game Prep Hoops watched him play today. Iriel had 14 points and 7 rebounds
vs Tennessee Shockers. Iriel has a nice jump-hook and keeps the ball up high when rebounding it on both
ends of the floor.
Qwailei Turner
Qwailei Turner (2020) – May River HS – Upward Stars Southeast 2020
Turner likes to stalk the baseline and really defends the passing lanes. Turner who has great length is very
athletic. Turner saw great minutes in his freshman season at May River HS.
Harold Johnson
Harold Johnson (2020) – Denmark-Olar HS – Central Carolina Force 15U
Johnson has played on varsity since 8th grade season. Johnson a left-handed guard has a slender-sleek frame.
Johnson passed up shooting the ball on the perimeter several times today in order to slash it to the rack.
Malik Palmer (2020) – Denmark-Olar HS – Central Carolina Force 15U (pictured on front)
Palmer is a slasher deluxe on the floor. Palmer 5’11 scored all of his points at the rim. Palmer and Johnson
look to be the future for the Denmark-Olar HS Vikings.
Omarion Byrd
Omarion Byrd (2020) – North Augusta HS – Upward Stars Riverfront
Byrd saw great minutes for the Yellow Jackets this while averaging 9.5 ppg. Byrd connected 41% (68-162)
from three point range this season.
