Grassroots Preview: Team Tae, NYBA Elite (TN)
The AAU season is upon us here in Kentucky and around the country. With teams starting to roll out their rosters and events heating up, Prep Hoops Kentucky previews grassroots programs from around the Bluegrass. Here, we feature Team Tae out of Tennessee, a program that features a number of Kentucky high school players.
Coach Tino spoke with PHKY and said he was excited about the potential this team has. “Kobe Brents, Michael Wallace, M.J. Grant, and Price Tramel are all D-I prospects in my mind. We are just very talented from top to bottom.”
TEAM TAE ROSTER
Kobe Brents, Glasgow High School, KY (5’9, PG) – 2020
Brents averaged 12 points and shot over 40% from the field as a freshman at Glasgow this season.
Prince Tramel, Oakland High School, TN (5’11, PG) – 2020
Tramel was a freshman team starter for Oakland. His freshman squad won all -city this past season.

Freshman team made city championship game, Young is also a varsity starter for Stratford’s football team.
Trey Gaddes – Stratford High School, TN (5’10, G) – 2020
Malcolm Louge, Lebanon High School, TN (5’8, PG) – 2020
Louge saw time, even as a freshman, as a varsity player this past season for Lebanon.
M.J. Grant, Oakland High School, TN (6’1, G/F) – 2020
Grant was a freshman varsity player on the Oakland team that made it to the state tournament this past season. Could be the most talented player on Team Tae’s roster.
Connor Tharpe, Independence High school (6’2) – 2020
Cole Carr, MBA (6’1) – 2020
Cooper Badgeet, Martin Luther King (6’2) – 2020
Mike Wallace, Stratford High School (6’4, F) – 2020
Nephew of Dontae Jones, Wallace can play all five spots at 6’4. Can also shoot the ball well. Had he not set out this season due to injury, his coach with Team Tae thinks he would have been a Top 5 freshman in Tennessee.
Chase Jones, Glasgow High School (6’5, C) – 2020
Jones will be out to prove himself this summer with Team Tae. He saw short minutes at the varsity level at Glasgow, but a strong showing this summer and a willingness to get better will sure to get him going.
Jason Rhodes, Lead Academy (5’7, PG) – 2020
Rhoades was Lead Academy’s 6th Man this season. Lead Academy made the regional semifinal. He averaged 11 points and 7 steals per game.
