Grassroots Preview: NKY Force
The AAU season is upon us here in Kentucky and around the country. With teams starting to roll out their rosters and events heating up, Prep Hoops Kentucky previews grassroots programs from around the Bluegrass. Here, we feature NKY Force, coached by Brent Sowder.
NKY FORCE ROSTER
#3 Noah Wirth, Campbell County (6’1, Guard) 2019
Wirth is a smart and tough minded player who can score with some range. Good defender/rebounder. Not afraid to mix it up inside or guard around the perimeter.
#4 Yallen Woods, East Jessamine (6’1, G/F) 2019
Woods averaged 12.8 points and 4 rebounds per game during his sophomore season at East Jessamine. Physical guard with good handles. Nice jump shooter, can score it inside.
#5 Drew Wilson, Campbell County (6’1, Guard) 2019
Strong shooter with an improved ability to get to the rim. Can score at all three levels. Could be a player to watch in the coming years. As a sophomore, Wilson shot over 45% from the field.
#11 Dalton Bruner, West Jessamine (5’11, Guard) 2019
Bruner is quick with the ball and has tremendous defensive instincts. Can score with some range, pull up, or get all the way to the rim. Dalton averaged 14 points and shot over 50% from the field as a sophomore at West Jessamine this past season.
#15 Will Bandy, Barren County (6’5, Forward) 2020
Physical player who is still developing. Nice touch around the rim. Can step out and hit the open three. Has a ton of upside. Averaged 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds as a freshman at Barren County.
#20 Jared Coomer, Barren County (6’7, Forward) 2018
College coaches looking for a do-it-all forward in the 2018 class need be at NKY Force games to see Coomer. Going into his senior season next year, Coomer is 6’7 with some guard skill. Can score at all three levels, good passer, good rebounder, and can shoot it from deep. Very versatile player.
Coomer averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a junior, shooting 46% from the field.
#23 Vince Rankin, Ryle High School (6’5, Forward) 2019
Rankin is physically very strong. Mid-range is almost automatic, according to Coach Sowder. Good motor on the court. Rebounds well on both ends of the floor.
As a sophomore, Rankin averaged 10.7 points and 7 rebounds per game at Ryle.
#25 Stephen Cordle, Augusta High School (6’6, Forward) 2019
Cordle averaged 8.1 points and 5.1 rebounds as a sophomore at Augusta this season. Can be a load in the post, adept at using his body to create space for an easy shot.
#33 Thomas Thompson, Harrison County (6’2, G/F) 2019
Athletic player. Improved decision making on the court and displaying an ability to make his teammates better this season be it with an assist or outlet that starts the break. Really good at getting to the rim on the break.
