EYBL: Scott’s Sunday Standouts
PrepHoops Network closed out the first live period with another day of action at the Nike EYBL in Indy. Check out Scott’s Sunday Standouts here!
PG Tre Jones (Howard Pulley)
Jones is in the elite tier of point guards nationally. He is the younger brother of Minnesota Timberwolves lead guard Tyus Jones. They share many of the same qualities at the lead guard spot. Jones is a high IQ guard that has an advanced feel for running a team. He sees the floor particularly well in the half court working in the pick and roll. Finds cutters and shooters consistently with ease. Pushes it up the floor in transition often times with length of the court passes. Can hit an occasional three and is a quality layup maker in the lane after getting dribble penetration. Jones is a high-major prospect.
PF Orlando Allen (Meanstreets)
Allen is a 6’7” power forward from Thornton High School in Illinois. He is a bit of an up and down player that when he plays with a high motor can be extremely effective. When he doesn’t bring that same intensity he isn’t. Liked the intensity he played with against Team Final. Allen made quick and aggressive moves inside with the ball and finished a few dump off passes. Also had a sweet up and under. Was active fighting on the glass against more physical posts. Allen has low-major ability when he plays like this.
SG Cam Reddish (Team Final)
Reddish is about as elite of a wing scorer as you are going to find in the high school game. At 6’8” the two guard already has NBA size and a body that continues to get better strength wise. He is a silky smooth guard that can score at all three levels with relative ease. Everything plays off his feathery jump shot. Reddish drills them from three off the catch and is a big time pull up mid-range shooter. Hit a sick fade away three that had the gym buzzing. Pure perimeter shot from anywhere on the floor with elevation and great form. He is smooth taking it to the hoop with his long strides and easy acceleration. He can score from literally anywhere on the floor. Reddish scored 35 points. Top 5 prospect nationally.
SG Demarius Jacobs (Mac Irvin Fire)
Jacobs is a shooting guard originally from Uplift, but the senior is reclassifying to the 2018 class and will be attending Hillcrest in Arizona. He is a long and wiry athlete that has big time bounce. He showed that throughout the weekend with multiple posterizing dunks including one on Sunday where he went 360 and almost brought the house down. At this stage Jacobs is best in transition. He can really get out in the open floor as a finisher using his speed and hops to finish above the rim. Solid layup maker that when he adds strength will get even better at that. Streaky perimeter shooter that does have potential as a spot up shooter. Jacobs is a mid-major prospect.
PF Keion Brooks (Spiece Indy Heat)
Huge fan of this 6’8” power forward. We can see why he is such a coveted recruit in the Midwest and nationally. He is a long and wiry big with major explosiveness! Brooks gets on the offensive glass for put backs with a second jump that is second to none! He Flashes offensive skill in the post with quick hook shots and moves on the block. Can also stretch it out to three at times. Biggest part of his game is the explosion around the hoop jumping with two feet which is shown in his dunks and blocking shots on defense. Elite high-major recruit.
