Easter Classic Standouts (Part 2)
The 2017 Easter Classic took place this past weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and various other locations around Orlando.
Teams from the youth to high school ages participated in the bracketed tournament. I bounced around a lot of courts and watched some really close games.
The game of the weekend went down between the Jacksonville Magic and Lake Worth Pride in the 16U bracket as the two sides went to double overtime before the Pride pulled out the win.
Here are the top standouts from the Easter Classic (Part 2).
Tre Mann (E1T1)
Mann is really good. He showed up often at the E1T1 Invitational last week. This weekend at the Easter Classic, he took control of the offense, hit many open looks and distributed the ball well. The sky is the limit for this determined 6’1″ rising Villages junior. Mann plays with a serious chip on his shoulder at all times.
Nathan Louis (Team M.O.A.M.)
Last weekend, Louis was draining jumpers. This weekend, he was scoring inside a ton and shutting down teams with vicious blocks. The 6’3″ 2019 guard is coming along. He gets aggressive when he needs to and finds ways to contribute on both ends of the floor. He’ll be a standout for Apopka in the fall.
Tylor Miller (Lake Worth Pride)
Miller flashed his raw athleticism at The Top Rank Showcase last month. The 2019 Santaluces forward did so again for the Lake Worth Pride as they made it all the way to the 16U title game against Team M.O.A.M. Miller had the game-winning floater in double-overtime against the Jacksonville Magic to advance. He then blocked the Magic’s final shot attempt to seal the victory. At 6’4″, Miller’s energy is through the roof.
Elton Walker (Elite Ballers)
A dunk in transition wowed the crowd in the 17U championship game against E1T1. Walker, who stands at 6’5″, is a rebounding machine and a hard worker. He is a leader for the Elite Ballers and will be once again at Killian this fall. Walker is a 2018 wing to monitor.
Zion Henderson (Florida Prospects)
Another dunker and kid with a high monitor was Henderson. The 2018 Sanford Seminole forward had some really good possessions in the 17U semifinal against the Elite Ballers. Henderson had a lethal dunk in transition and later denied 6’7″ forward Immanuel Crump with a block that forced the ball to be stuck against the rim and backboard.
