Circle City Shootout: Friday Night Notes
INDIANAPOLIS, IN | The first live period is underway and college coaches are out like crazy, trying to find the best of the best. Tonight, we spent time at Warren Central High School to check in on some of the top teams from around the Midwest. Some impressed like Christian Harvey. Some really impressed like Hayden Langkabel. We break it down.
Langkabel Put On A Show
The 6’1 guard out of Morristown (IN), Hayden Langkabel, had a great night for Indiana Legends. He was pretty much himself, a composed scoring threat that dropped 27 points on Grand Park Select 2018. He didn’t really shoot the ball a ton, mainly because he was creating turnovers so often that he was getting buckets on layups. However, his few jumpers were really impressive as he has a really good stepback from three. He’s going to be a guy that can go play tough defense, score the ball a ton, and never look overmatched. He’s proven over the last year that length and athleticism really don’t bother him and he could be a guy that a lot of local schools start tracking really quickly.
Christian Harvey A Name To Remember
When DII programs start looking this spring for a scorer from the guard spot, most should start right here. Richmond’s Christian Harvey is a really talented 2018 guard who can score the ball so well at the rim. Has the ability to manipulate his body in the air to finish shots at a high rate. Still has to work on his jumper from three as he was short a few times when he looked to go that route. If he can clean that up, he could be a very coveted player.
Indiana Elite Diesel Put On A Show
While we didn’t watch the game, scoring 97 points is always impressive. They took down Gym Rats Red 2019, 97-27. This 2019 Diesel group is going to be one to watch as they have very similarly skilled players all about the same level. In this one, you had Andrew Owens score 13 points, Luke Richardson with 13 points, Nate Soltis with 16, and Eli Pancol with 26 points.
Pancol is going to be one to watch as he could really take huge steps forward. His athleticism seems to have taken a step forward and he’s much more aggressive. Now, pairing all of that together, this is a 6’4 wing that could put up some big numbers this year. Could be one of a few 2019 kids to land their first offer before the end of the summer.
