So Cal Hoops Review Top Performers for (UBC)
The Utah Basketball Club (UBC) was recently in California for the So Cal Hoop Review. They had a successful tournament and I will be highlighting top performers from the 16U and 17U teams.
17U
The 17U Elite team had a very solid tournament that included wins over earl Watson Elite Unsigned seniors and the Colorado Miners. they were eventually knocked out of bracket play by Colorado Chaos D1 Ambassadors.
Top Performers:
Clayton Southwick 6’7 (Palmer, AK) is an unsigned senior who is playing for UBC in hopes of landing a D1 scholarships. He is one of the best players from Alaska and has shown he can shoot it from deep and can finish above the rim.
Stockton Shorts 6’4 (Copper Hills HS) is an unsigned senior who turned down junior college offers to try and play his way to a D1 scholarship. He was Mr. Basketball in the state of Utah and had a spectacular senior season. Shorts is able to score is so many ways and plays with more heart than just about anybody.
Darian Nebeker 6’3 (West Jordan) the junior had a very solid tournament and further proved he is a next level player. He is a big body guard who is able to get to the rim with his aggressive play. If Nebeker is able to find a consistent jump shot he will be one of the top (2018) players in the state of Utah.
16U
The 16U Elite team had big wins over TYBT (sponsored by Byron Scott)and also VC Swoosh out of California before being knocked out of bracket play by Early Watson 2019.
Top Performers
Trevin Allfrey 6’5 (Copper Hills) had a breakout tournament where he averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds per game including a 31 point game versus TYBT. He has a ridiculous wingspan that allows him to score over taller defenders. If he can improve his athleticism he will be a player to watch out of the (2019) class.
Tanner Cuff 6’4 (Dixie) showed his playmaking skills throughout the tournament as he averaged 15 points and nearly 10 assists per game. Cuff should have a breakout junior season for Dixie after several key departures will be gone due to graduation.
