Adidas Gauntlet (Dallas): 22 Vision vs. SC Supreme Recap
Northern Kentucky grassroots program 22 Vision (@twentytwovision) squared off against Zion Williamson and SC Supreme (South Carolina) tonight in Dallas, Texas. 22 Vision features Top 5 national prospect Romeo Langford from New Albany, IN and host of Kentucky’s top prospects, including Mickey Pearson (John Hardin), Trevon Faulkner (Mercer County), Dontaie Allen (Pendleton County), Adam Kunkel (Cooper), Andrew Taylor (Corbin), and Zach Kelch (Simon Kenton).
Top Performers:
Romeo Langford led 22 Vision in scoring with 28, shooting 9-15 from the field with 4 rebounds.
Kentucky guards Andrew Taylor (2018) and Adam Kunkel (2018) both had good games, with Taylor scoring 8 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists. Kunkel also chipped in 8 points, and displayed an ability to get past his man and create off the dribble. He also hit a big time 3-pt field goal to put 22 Vision in the lead as both teams were going back and forth against it each when the game was coming to a close.
Keep An Eye On:
Dontaie Allen (2019) led 22 Vision in rebounds, grabbing 6 during the contest. Allen, the only sophomore on the floor, displayed great length, challanging a number of SC Supreme’s shots both at the rim and from mid-range. At 6’6, Allen is one of Kentucky’s top 2019 prospects and will only get better at the wing position.
Trevon Faulkner (2018) was tasked to contain phenom Zion Williamson early in the game, which tells us we may see him match-up against some of the top players around the Adidas Gauntlet throughout. Faulkner is one of Kentucky’s top guards and has offers from Middle Tennessee and Wright State.
Mickey Pearson (2018) has offers from EKU, Troy, and Samford. He showed some athleticism with a big-time dunk early in the game. Look for Pearson to have more of an impact for 22 Vision as they go forward.
