2018 Rankings: Top Posts
The 2018 class is loaded with skilled posts. There are a number of bigs in this group who will go on to play high level basketball long after high school concludes. Here are a list of the top bigs from this group.
2018 Rankings: Top 5 Posts
Bryce Davis 6’8 PF/C Deer Valley (Compton Magic Select)
Davis was one of the biggest stock risers for Arizona in the updated rankings. He is a strong bodied player with a soft touch around the rim as well as on his jump shot. Davis is playing more aggressive than he has in the past. He attacks the rim with a lot of toughness and draws a lot of contact while finishing tough shots. Davis should continue to improve his stock with the Compton Magic Select team and in his senior year.
Nikc Jackson 6’8 PF Sunnyside (PowerHouse Hoops Black)
Since arriving in Arizona, Jackson has been a walking double-double that can be relied upon almost as much as the sun in the summer. In addition to having good length and athleticism, Jackson has a solid handle for his size. His ability to play long the perimeter as a pop four makes him quite attractive at the next level. He does a great job out of pick and roll/pop situations.
KJ Hymes 6’10 PF/C Hillcrest (Las Vegas Prospects)
Hymes, much like Jackson, looks more comfortable in a pick and pop setting as well as on the perimeter than he does as a back to the basket traditional post. Hymes has good range on his shot and shoots it at a high level. His length is also quite attractive. He has received a lot of attention from NCAA Division-I suitors due in large part to his length and ability to shoot the basketball from an array of spots on the court.
Steele Bennett 6’10 C Desert Vista (Factory AZ)
Bennett tends to be more of a traditional post who has a soft touch around the rim and good footwork. His size and post play have made him an interesting prospect to a number of NCAA Division-I schools. Bennett has a decent motor and does well on the glass. He has a consistent mid-range jumper that he is continuing to improve and add range to.
Cassius Smits-Francisco 6’9 C Aspire Academy (PowerHouse Hoops Red)
Smits-Francisco is an intriguing prospect due to his size and toughness. He is strong around the rim and does a good job on the block. Smits is a skilled passer who has a high basketball IQ as well. He is new to the valley but has made an impact immediately and has earned his way to being on the top posts list. Furthermore, Smits can play at a high level and has attracted some NCAA Division-I attention as well.
