2018 Rankings: Stock Risers
The 2018 class had a number of players increase their stock expediently this past season. The following list of players raised their stock more than than the rest of the group.
2018 Stock Risers
Kyle Fischer 6’5 SG/SF Sunnyslope (AZU)
Fischer has had a lot of potential since he emerged on the prep seen. He demonstrated the skill set that many believed he had this season. Fischer was monumental to the success of Sunnyslope due to his versatile style of play. At 6’5, he is able to play an array of positions offensively and defensively. Offensively, he does a great job of executing high-low passes, taking defenders off of the dribble and finding teammates, as well as doing all of the dirty work. On the defensive end, he can guard an array of positions and he is all over the glass. Look for Fischer to continue to do big things in his senior campaign.
Rashad Smith 6’4 SG Hamilton (LV Prospects)
Smith had a coming out party at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo. It is safe to say that he continued that dominate play throughout the season. Smith has a confident handle and can play the point at the next level. His ability to attack off of the dribble and shoot the basketball from deep mixed with is length afford him the opportunity to play the 2. He can flat out play and should put on a show as he continues to help Hamilton be successful next season.
Grant Greabell 6’2 SG Estrella Foothills (Team Zona)
Greabell is in the elite conversation for the best shooters in the entire state. Moreover, he has expanded his game and can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim as well as create mid-range jumpers at a higher level. Greabell is a team first kid who plays all out all of the time. His selfless mentality mixed with his bulldog work ethic make him an intriguing prospect who could find himself making a huge impact for a next level suitor.
Bryce Davis 6’6 PF Deer Valley (Compton Magic)
Davis has grown a lot as far as the mentality with which he plays. He has the physical tools with a big body, strong frame, and good length to play this game at the next level. Add to it that he is starting to attack the rim with a violent mentality, and this kid could be really special. He has a soft touch on his shot with forces opposing 3/4 to respect him along the perimeter. If he continues to grow and improve his game, he will be a match-up nightmare for opposing teams.
Marcel Dean 5’11 PG Cholla (Arizona Power)
Dean has a high basketball IQ and can shoot the basketball from anywhere. He shoots at almost 50% from 3 and over 85% from the line. In addition to being a talented scorer, Dean does a great job of drawing the help side defense and creating for his teammates as he added almost 4 assists per game this past season. Dean should make even bigger leaps on this list with a solid off-season.
