Young wins Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year
Trae Young was tabbed the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. This year was a stellar season for Young who averaged 42.6 points per game. The ability of Young to score at any points from anywhere on the floor was amazing to watch.
Defenders did everything they could to stop Young, but he would not be denied. Young will take home many different honors for the year he had this year on the hardwood. Every night, Young carried Norman North the best he could with the ball in his hands. You could make the argument Young had the best season of any player in Oklahoma high school basketball history.
Over the year Young has been named a McDonald’s All-American, to the Jordan Brand Classic game and today he adds Gatorade Player of the Year for the second straight year. Young made the high school basketball scene in Oklahoma more exciting than it has been in some time with fans packing arenas to see him play. In his last couple of high school games in Area, Young sold out the arena. There were so many fans they had to turn people away at the gates.
