WNC/Upstate Showcase Notes Part III
The Justin Byerly Upstate/WNC Showcase was held at the Easley Recreation Center in Easley, South Carolina over this past weekend and almost 100 players participated. College coaches from Mars Hill University and prep school coaches from Moravian Prep, media and scouts were in attendance. Here is a look at some of the notes from the event.
Jordan Snell a 6’2 shooting guard for the Orangeburg-Wilkinson that can shoot the three. Snell has great jumps and play good defense on his man. Snell has a decent mid-range shot and is quick to hole. Snell will be help the Bruins next year .
2018 Lane Kervin of Tuscola knows how to score the ball. Can put it on the floor and has a good release. The junior will be a scoring option.
Landon Henley2019 F Landon Henley of Tuscola High School played great at the event. Great footwork and post moves to go along with a nice touch and feel around basket. One of WNC top bigs.
2020 Javon Elleby has a handle and can shoot it. Very athletic and can play the 1 or 2. Knows how to score and can finish at the basket.
Anthony Isbell can get up and down the court. Can handle the ball. Locks down on defense. Can get in that paint and find the open teammate.
Trevon Hall of West Caldwell was impressive this weekend at WNC/Upstate Showcase. Quick on Quick. Has handles to go along with great court vision, great on defense.
2018 Deandre Byrd is very athletic, plays above the rim, had some highlight dunks. Along with Sam Tyner will lead Easley next season.
BJ Smith of Northeast Guilford did some good things, anticipated well on D, finished well at the basket.
2018 guard Holden Straughn is a big framed scorer who can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Consistent shot.
Mason Brown of Anderson Christian can defend, make the passes and can score. Shot the ball well all day and knows where to put it.
Stan “Nuke” Ellis is athletic and can score. He can also distribute the ball. Has good court vision and can set up teammates.
Dorian Williams of Greenville (SC) is a quick guard that can fill up the stat sheet, knows how to score, good in transition and finishing.
Trevor Flagler, 5’9, 2017 G has a quick first step, knows how to get the defense moving and can score. Made some nice mid-range shots.
