VISAA State Semifinal Underclassmen Standouts
PETERSBURG, VA — One of the best days of the year for college coaches and media, the VISAA semifinals are always stacked with talent, and this year was no different. We saw two double overtime games, multiple high major prospects, and high level basketball from across the state. Below is a breakdown of eight freshmen and sophomores that stood out on Friday.
DANIEL BANISTER | G | CAPE HENRY ‘19
Daniel Banister is an active and long wing with broad shoulders. Likes the 1 dribble pull up, and will not hesitate to get his shot off. Intriguing potential. Good defender. Will protect rim. Alert in help situations.
ANTHONY HARRIS | G | PAUL VI ’19
Anthony Harris understands the game, and more often than not makes the correct play. He always goes hard and rebounds. Sneaky athlete, and good leaper. Came up clutch when his team needed him most. Great touch around the basket with either hand.
DAE DAE HEARD | G | MILLER ‘19
Dae Dae heard has slimmed down, and looks like he’s in great shape heading into the spring. Has a good mid range pull-up. Versatile. Boxes out. Soft hands. Moves well w/o the ball. Finishes through contact. Good feel.
AUNDRE HYATT | G | MILLER ‘19
Aundre Hyatt is a stocky wing with intriguing skill and fantastic touch from the perimeter. When engaged, Hyatt does a great job boxing out and rebounding as well as contesting shots around the rim.
PATRICK KELLY | F | VES ‘19
Patrick Kelly has great size and broad shoulders at about 6’7. The long and lanky stretch four is great off the catch, and can get hot in a hurry. Kelly displays a quick release on his jumper.
ISMAEL PLET | G/F | VES ‘20
Ismael Plet boasts a GREAT frame and good mobility. He’s a versatile defender who rebounds effectively on the defensive end, and relentlessly crashes the offensive glass.
JEREMY ROACH | G | PAUL VI ’20
Jeremy Roach is a high level athlete with great paint getting ability. Roach scores from a variety of angles around the basket, and is very good in handling pressure and applying it defensively. Roach demonstrates intangibles that are uncommon for a player of his age.
DAJOUR RUCKER | F | CAPE HENRY ‘19
Dajour Rucker flat out goes goes hard. The versatile forward is a great rebounder with a nice touch from all areas of the floor. Rucker moves well off the ball, and is comfortable facing up. An ideal trailman w/good footwork. Great from the catch. Energetic.
