Updated Ohio Rankings: Class of 2017
After watching numerous games, staying plugged into the latest recruiting news, and using our judgment, Prep Hoops Ohio is proud to release our latest and final Prospect Rankings for the 2017 class.
This senior class includes record-setting and award-winning post players at the top. Specifically, Ohio’s Mr. Basketball, Kaleb Wesson finishes as the #1 player in the class. Kyle Young, Derek Culver, Sterling Manley, and Jayvon Graves, round out the top five, respectively.
Most notably, the class of 2017 is deep. By our count, there are currently 65 Ohio seniors committed to play basketball in college. That’s a number that seems to grow daily.
Speaking of commitments, college recruitment is the primary criteria we have used for our ranking system in Ohio. While our staff’s judgment is also a component, the college programs on your offer sheet or that have shown interest takes priority. There are plenty of exceptions; but a player with Division II will usually be ranked higher than an individual with exclusively NAIA offers.
Another unique factor we have considered is academic standing. It’s not a cliché when people tell parents and players that grades come first. While some players may be slightly more talented than others, a prospect who carries a 3.5 GPA or a 28 ACT score will receive a sizable boost. Grades are simply important to colleges.
Enjoy the rankings! You can find them HERE!
Congratulations to all of the seniors on a successful high school basketball career — whether big or small, your impact on the game will forever matter.
