MVP: Nike Sibande (Attucks)
Sibande did it all in this one. He scored at will and only messed one shot, and then got his rebound and put it right back up. He had four steals as well and threw down some huge dunks.
Best offensive performance: Teyon Scanlan (Attucks)
Scanlan played really well in this one as well. He got out and ran and made a few nice jumpers. He was on fire in this whole one but it was hard not to be since Herron just really struggled on defense.
Best defensive performance: Nike Sibande (Attucks)
Sibande was all over the court in this one on the defensive end as well. He got a tremendous amount of tipped balls and really played the press well once they settled in. He is so athletic and long its tough to move the ball around him.
Best stat sheet stuffer: Zac Owens (Attucks)
Owens played a really solid game. He scored 14 points and had a few assists, blocks, and steals. He is a really good piece that Attucks has and he can score the ball at a high clip when needed.
Plays of the Game: There were a lot of plays in this one, so all of them
Attucks beat Herron by 77 points which is the biggest margin of victory in sectionals since the class tournament started. Every layup was pretty much preceded by a steal.
Best underclassman: Jaiquan Edwards (Attucks)
Edwards came off the bench and scored 11 points and didn’t miss a shot. He was a piece that really performed well in the third and fourth quarter. Although, everyone did well in the second half.
Best under-the-radar performance: Robert Cooley (Attucks)
Cooley was a starter and while he didn’t do much on the stat sheet he really played a complete game. He finished with seven points four rebounds and four assists. It was a great showing for him and he led the team well.
Best rebounder: Nike Sibande (Attucks)
Sibande really rebounded the ball well today. He was more athletic than anyone on the floor and showed it as he skied over opponents for rebounds. He scored on a few put backs as well.
Best shooter: Zac Owens (Attucks)
Owens was perfect from the floor and never took any bad shots. He played well and will need to continue this against Manual if they want a shot to win.
Best takeaway: Attucks moves on to play Manual. They will have to play solidly in order to win the game against the much taller and longer team. If they play aggressive and get to the rim they should be able to pull it out.
