Team United Preview (Nike EYBL)
Charlotte based Team United plays on the Nike EYBL circuit and has a long list of college stars and NBA players as alumni. We take a look today at the some of the 2017 Team United roster and which players may be on their path to the being tomorrow’s next stars.
KC Hankton (6’8 2018)-Has offers from Kent State, Utah State and Winthrop and is being recruited by ECU, Ohio, Tennessee, Coastal Carolina, Loyola of Chicago, among others. A long and athletic forward/center for United Faith in Charlotte, he was named to the NCISAA All-State basketball team.
Trey McGowensPatrick Williams (6’7 2019)-Williams plays at Charlotte powerhouse West Charlotte HS. Williams is a big guard who has size, length, athleticism to go along with a great skill set and a natural feel for the game. He can score off the dribble and is a match-up nightmare with is size. He can score over smaller guards and can take it into the paint and finish with the bigger post players. He is athletic and has a high basketball IQ.
Qon Murphy (6’5 2018)-Murphy reminds me a lot of University of South Carolina senior Sindarius Thornwell with his size and shooting touch. He can attack the basket and is hard to guard with his size. Charlotte and Hampton have already offered the powerful wing/shooting guard and he has heard recently from Clemson, NC State, Santa Clara and South Alabama.
Trey McGowens (6’3 2018)-A shooting guard who helped lead Wren HS (SC) to a runner-up finish in the SCHSL 3-A playoffs. He is a scoring point guard that can knock down shots all the way to the three-point line. He can find the open man while attacking the perimeter and getting into the lane. He is good in the open floor, always finding the open teammate in transition. He has good size and long arms and can play above the rim when attacking the basket and can finish with either hand near the rim.
Tripp Greene (6’1 2018)-Tripp is a player that coaches love simply because he brings all the intangibles that you want from your PG, defensively he gives it’s a 100% and has solid lateral quickness and hands. Tripp is what many would call a ‘‘pesky” defender, you may get one step on him but he recovers quickly and contains his opponent very well. On the offensive end he knows how to run a squad and get everybody involved but he knows how to get his own offensive as well as he is a very gifted three point shooter.
Flo Thomba (6’11 2018)
Robert Braswell (6’9 2018)
Mikey Maddox (6’0 2018)
Deaundre Wilkins (6’10 2019)
