The Stock Up Showcase First Team
The Prep Hoops Stock Up Showcase was Sunday at Augsburg. Who was the best at the event? Here is our five man All Stock Up Showcase Team.
Aiden Bizardie, 6-1 sophomore guard from Todd County (SD). Aiden scored 18 plus a night this winter for his team at the Class A level in South Dakota for a .500 team. Aiden’s comfort with the basketball was clear but his separation was even more impressive. He used his drag step to shake defenders regularly. Did a nice job of mixing in his offense with creating his own attempts.
Michael Coble, 6-3 junior guard from Byron. Michael was not only one of the best players there, he was the top player, prospect, and performer. Coble grabbed the attention of everyone first with his defensive effort. He was in great help position, vocal on defense, active in passing lanes, and built up several steals and defensive boards. Offensively he had several explosive finishes but I also liked his ability to turn the corner to get to space and his pull-up was on as well.
Savon Dufloth, 6-4 senior wing from Coon Rapids. Easily the surprise of the event. This is a guy that played one game for an improved Coon Rapids team. Savon had us looking at our roster early with his effort in scoring actively off the ball. The scoring at the rim in transition or off the ball was consistent, but then he started hitting threes. In the first game he hit fthree of them. In game two Dufloth knocked out eight threes with feet set and a couple pulling off a dribble. In the third game Savon hit four more. He definitely put more points through the net than any other at the end and that was helped by the 45 points he scored on threes. What a surprise this was and you have to think a couple of the junior colleges in the state that give second chances will be talking with him soon.
Bjorn Knutson, 6-2 junior guard from Byron. One of the greatest surprises of this event Bjorn scored in every which way. This is a strong guard that produced with his back to the basket, feet set at the arc, attacking to complete, and he really grabbed our attention the way he explosively finished. Coble and Knutson, it’s a heck of a duo.
Dane Zimmer, 6-6 sophomore forward from Hopkins. There was quality size at the Stock Up Showcase but none of it moved the way Zimmer did, none of those players rebounded with the effort and intelligence that Zimmer did, and none of the bigs have the touch that Dane does. Zimmer saw time for Hopkins last year but I would expect him to get strong minutes the next couple years with Joe Hedstrom and Zeke Nnaji giving Hopkins the deepest frontcourt in the state in the coming years.
