Stock Riser Report: John Michael Wright (2019)
Over the past year there have been quite a few players that have raised their stock in a major way and Sophomore Guard John Michael Wright is one of them without a doubt. Just two years ago he was a player who was on a team where he didn’t get a ton of minutes and was simply a role player. However this young man decided to continue to perfect his craft and has developed into a very nice player and 2019 prospect in the state of North Carolina. Last season he transferred in to Fayetteville Academy and teamed up with Guard Jon Gauer and Demetrius Jones to lead Fayetteville Academy to a very solid season even though they were undermanned. This season he returned not only with more confidence but also more responsibility as a leader on the squad, the ball would be placed in his a lot more and it was interesting to see how things went,
He played very well throughout the season, helping Fayetteville Academy to win a Conference Championship as well as being named to the NCISAA All-State team. After the season he was invited to the Basketball Elite Fab 40 Camp to match up against some of the top players from Eastern NC and he played very well. He would go on to have an outstanding showing and would add the Camp MVP award to his trophy case that already holds Conference Player of the Year, and Conference Tournament MVP. He will being playing his AAU ball with Flight 22 this year and will definitely turn some heads as he is a legit Division 1 prospect. He plays the game with a confidence and swagger that you love to see from a young person, when speaking with this young man he is always talking about how much he wants his team to be successful more than anything else.
