SEBA is a program built for success
Rick Thorpe runs a heck of a program at SEBA.
The travel team is well prepared for the summer season ahead. Practicing at Cambridge Christian on Monday night, I saw a group that was not only athletic but gritty.
SEBA consists of length and pure athletes.
The roster features the likes of Duncan Demuth (Seminole), David Pierce (Gibbs), Ricardo Clouden (Lennard), Carlos Williams (Countryside), Ronald Boyd (Plant), Daryl Mercer (Cambridge Christian), Jaylin Jackson (Cambridge Christian), Christian Shaneyfelt (Countryside) and Isaiah Hodge (Lennard).
Also, 2017 center Tyler Witz (Countryside) will be with the squad through April and 2018 center Matheus Silviera came over from Brazil to play ball in Florida.
Notes
–BDemuth is a prospect with tons of length who can play in the post and hit outside jumpers. The rising senior’s market is heating up.
–Pierce still is playing with a knee brace, but he can do it all from outside and as an attacker. He is a smart heads up 2018 prospect.
–Clouden was the entire focus for Lennard this season and his still coming into his own as an all-around player. Hodge is a raw talent who can get up on dunks and rebounds.
–Williams and Shaneyfelt are both sound players. Williams runs the point well and can score when he needs to while Shaneyfelt is a lethal 3-point shooter.
–Boyd is a player who never stops. His energy is relentless and he hustles towards every loose ball. He is a reliable guard.
–Jackson and Mercer can stretch the floor with their speed. Both athletes for the football team, their games translate well to the basketball court.
Final thoughts
SEBA is a deep team and when scrimmages went down on Monday night, there were flashes from both sides. This should be a successful summer.
Thorpe and his staff push his kids to be the best and never strive for anything less. He helps to get his kids noticed and it certainly benefits when they play complete basketball.
