Scouting and Highlights: Quinn Blair (2018)
Quinn Blair is a 6’6″ pure shooter for Divine Child. He has one of the purest strokes out there and is highly efficient. He’s a high IQ, high character player. Given his size and his ability to be effective while playing within a system, he will be an effective shooter at the D1 level. He’s already received 4 D1 offers and will be a mid-major at the least.
Here’s my take on Blair’s game:
Strengths:
Shooting – His shot is really smooth and fundamentally sound. His shot is about as textbook as it gets. He looks smooth and comfortable from any range. He is efficient and takes good shots. He does a good job freeing himself up without the ball so he can get easy, open shots.
IQ – He makes smart plays with the ball and limits the amount of mistakes he makes. He does a good job moving without the ball. He does a good job rotating on defense. His basketball IQ allows him to fit into a system and be effective without having to be the main focus of the offense.
Finishing – While he may not be known for dunking over everybody, Blair has a soft touch around the rim. He’s capable of adjusting in mid-air to finish around the defense. He’s capable of finishing through contact as well as around the defense.
Passing – He does a good job of keeping his head up and finding the open man while he has the ball. He can handle pressure and still see the court well. Most importantly, he’s a willing passer.
Areas For Development:
Explosiveness – While he definitely has the height and strength to compete at the any level, a bit more explosiveness in both his step and his leap would make a world of difference. If he could become more explosive he would be a matchup nightmare, as he would be too big for smaller guards to check and too quick for bigger guys to stay in front of.
Playmaking – While he does a good job making plays via the pass, he struggles to break down a defender and create offense one on one. Implementing a few go-to dribble moves that would allow him to get by his defender would make him a beast offensively. Even just adding in a consistent pull-up game would make him a serious scoring threat.
