Recruiting Reports: Michael Schaeffer (2018)
Michael Schaeffer is averaging a double-double for St. Cloud Cathedral as a junior. The hard working skilled junior is thinking big for March.
“Overall, we’ve had a really good season,” Michael told Prep Hoops. “We’re sitting at a 22-4 record with our section game against Pierz tomorrow night.”
The Crusaders are winning games by 15 points a night and the heavy favorite in 6AA East.
“We should be the number one seed in our sub section,” Michael said. “Two of our four losses are to Melrose, so we’d love the opportunity to see them in the section finals.”
Michael is giving Cathedral 21.3 points and 10.7 rebounds a game which is an outstanding accomplishment spread out across an entire season.
“I’m constantly working on my game in every school practice as well as individual workouts with Powerhouse Minnesota,” Michael said. “My offensive game has always been one of my strengths, so I’ve really been focusing on my defense and rebounding this season.”
As a 6-foot-5 small forward with range Schaeffer is getting a lot of looks at the next level. Michael has a touch, numbers, and is rebounding in a way that has impressed.
“I’m still hearing from several NSIC schools (Southwest Minnesota State, Northern State, U of Mary, St. Cloud State, Winona State, Sioux Falls, Augustana, and Minnesota State-Moorhead),” Schaefer said.
“I’m also hearing from Drake, West Point (Army), Nebraska-Omaha, and Denver. After the season, I’m looking forward to playing my fourth season with PowerHouse Hoops Minnesota.”
