Recruiting Report: Quinn Blair (2018)
Dearborn Divine Child small forward Quinn Blair just led his team to a regional semifinal win over Milan, and continues to make his mark as one of the state’s best 2018 prospects.
A versatile 6-foot-6 small forward, Blair currently sports four Division I offers, all of which he received last season. And could have several more piled on before the end of this summer.
“Right as the summer ended last year I picked up four Division I offers. It started with Cleveland State and then Northern Illinois, and then Southern Illinois, and then Eastern Michigan,” said Blair.
“All of those came within a-week-and-a-half at the end of the summer. I was getting worried because I didn’t have any (offers), and then to get four of them back-to-back was pretty exciting.”
Blair added “There’s still some pretty good schools in the mix, right now I’m hearing from Oakland and Akron. Cleveland State has been to some of my games and Western Michigan is starting to get involved.”
Blair — though he’s elated to have his existing offers — has a certain conference in mind, east of Michigan, where he’d like to start seeing some interest materialize.
“My coach is sending some film to some Atlantic 10 schools, that’s kind of where I’d like to end up.”
“There’s no Atlantic 10 schools in Michigan, but I’ve always liked watching schools like Dayton, George Washington and Richmond. They have great fan-bases, and they play really well, and I’ve always really liked watching them. I think I could fit in well there and it would be great to get to that level,” said Blair.
“But if not, I’ve got some great options right now, and I’ll be very happy with wherever I end up.”
Ideally, Blair says he’d like to have a college decision made made before his senior season begins. But he’s not putting any unnecessary pressure on himself.
“Wherever I feel the most comfortable is where I’m going to end up, and I don’t know when I’m going to make a decision; I’d like to have it decided before the school season next season. But I’m not going to set any personal or specific deadline.”
A versatile forward, with a background of strong post play, Blair is a guy who can do a little bit of everything in on the floor.
“When I was little I was always taller than everyone else, so I’ve definitely carried over my strengths of rebounding and post-skills,” he said. “I can take smaller guys into the post and bully them down there. And if there’s a bigger guy on me I can blow past him and finish at the rim. I’m versatile and I can do a lot of things.
Michigan’s 10th-ranked 2018, Blair has been enjoying a stellar junior season, averaging 21 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists per game. And just as soon as his season wraps up, he’ll head into a critical 17U offseason.
He’s not sure which program he’ll play with yet, but he’s got options.
“Right now I’m leaning towards REACH, my loyalty runs pretty deep with them,” said Blair. “It’s either REACH or 1Nation, I haven’t decided yet. I’ll probably, most likely end up with REACH.”
