Recruiting Report: Alec Sherman (2018)
2018 forward Alec Sherman was the top leader for Mitchell this past season.
The 6’5″, 190-pounder helped the Mustangs finish 21-8 and make it to the Class 7A region semifinal. Hillsborough beat Mitchell 37-34 in a defensive battle.
Sherman averaged a team-high 14.4 points per game along with 3.4 rebounds per game. He had seven 20 point performances including a season-high 25 in a win over Pasco.
“This season we came up a little bit short, I wanted to make it to the final four but I’m happy I got to play with my brothers,” Sherman told Prep Hoops Florida. “The part of my game that grew the most as a junior was driving to the basket. I’ve been trying to expand my game so I can play at the next level and improve on my shot and handles.”
This summer, Sherman is focused on enjoying his final AAU season while generating interest and offers. He’ll be playing for the first time with Team Speights.
Starting his basketball career in the 7th grade, he says his biggest strengths are his hustle, versatility and post up moves. Sherman is looking to improve his shot and handles to help take his game to the next level.
St. Leo, King’s College and Montevallo have shown interest in Sherman thus far.
The rising senior wing had flashy moments on attacks and he had a quick first step. He’s one of those kids that doesn’t wow you but will make a play that turns your head at times. Look for Sherman to have a banner year at Mitchell in his third season as a starter.
