Recruiting Report: 6’8 SF Dallin Harley
At American Fork High School it seems as if they’re breeding some very tall athletic athletes. Coach Doug Mecham has had his share of Division I athletes come in and out of his gym, such as, Tyler Rawson (Utah) Breendan Bailey (Marquette) and Spencer Johnson (Weber State) just to name a few. With that said we have 6’8 SF Dallin Harley who averaged 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assist per game for the Caveman who is returning from a LDS Mission early June.
What makes Dallin impressive is that he is a qualifier who can play with his back to the basket and face-up when he needs to. He can hit that 15-footer as well as play through contact in the paint and finish above the rim. Harley has great vision and he let’s the game come to him.
Recruiting return missionaries (RM’s) is tricky as most coaches are not aware on how to approach an athlete who will defer his acceptance for 2 years for his church service. Dallin Harley has four years left of eligibility and is a full-qualifier. Although Harley graduated in the Class of 2015 he is a reclassified Class of 2017 athlete.
Dallin has received interest from Dixie State and a handful of JUCO’s across the country. Harley played for the Salt Lake Rebels on the AAU circuit under Coach Evric Gray. During the live period he impressed a lot of people with his motor and IQ. One of the abilities that Harley possess is the fact that he can play in an uptempo system as well as a half-court set and slower pace type of game. Dallin has that rare ability to shoot the three, rebound and play defense. He is definitely a multi-tool player that plays on both ends of the court. Dallin would be an ideal DI low major or a high DII steal.
