Prep Hoops Route 66 Kick Off 17U Players to Watch: Part 7
The Prep Hoops Route 66 Kick Off is back in Oklahoma this year for the second consecutive year. The field is loaded with talent from across the country. Teams are attending the tournament from Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and Michigan. We begin previewing the 17U division with some of the top talent at the tournament.
Daniel (DJ) Thorpe 6’8 2019 TJ Ford-Austin Forward
Thorpe defends at a high level in the paint. He has good post moves and has really improved his rebounding. Thorpe holds multiple Division I offers with BIG12 schools in the mix. He is the son of NBA legend Otis Thorpe.
Garrett Wilson 6’1 2019 TJ Ford-Austin Guard
He is a freak athlete who can wow a crowd. Wilson is a strong finisher who will go up and finish over anyone. He leads the TJ Ford Team Austin in scoring. He holds an SMU offer in football and is attracting Division I interest in basketball as well.
Zach Taylor 6’2 2019 TJ Ford-Austin Guard
He averted 22 points per game in high school at St. Stephens Episcopal School in Texas. He has a killer mid-range with a great shooting stroke from behind the arc. He leads TJ Ford-Austin in steals and assists.
Lynnis Brown 6’1 2018 Houston Superstars Point Guard
Brown is a very tough Point Guard. He is a good student of the game with a street tough Point Guard mindset. Brown is receiving Division I looks he has a chance to be a big time sleeper. Brown could open some eyes this weekend in Oklahoma City.
Roger Martinez 6’7 2018 Houston Superstars Forward
Martinez is a very tough kid with a great skill set. He gets up the floor very well for his size and scores well around the basket. He is a coachable player who averaged 14 points, 13 boards and 3 blocks. Division I schools are showing interest.
Draylyn Brown 6’3 2018 Houston Superstars Guard
Brown is very special. He has a good build with great athleticism and quickness. He dominates on the defensive end. He is getting Division I looks from many different schools. Brown has the chance to blow up this summer with his explosiveness. Keep a close eye on Brown this weekend to see what he brings to the table.
Caleb Jones 6’7 2018 KC Elite Forward
Jones is a sleeper prospect on the KC Elite squad. He plays inside out at a legit 6’7 in the paint. He rebounds the ball well, but what sets him apart is his shooting touch.
