Oregon Grade by Grade All State Teams: 2020
This week, we will be putting together our grade by grade all state teams. Certainly an inexact science, our teams will be based more on current season production than future projections. Our team is focused on the guys that had an impact on the floor for their teams this season.
Below we take a look at the freshmen, the Class of 2020, considered by many to be an above average class talent wise.
Point Guard – Jamison Guerra Sherwood HS
It’s not often that point guards can step in and play effectively at the 6A level, but Guerra certainly proved he was more than deserving of the assignment. A consummate floor leader who simply makes his teammates better. The team leader in charges & assists, Sherwood’s offensive efficiency metrics were significantly better with him on the floor.
Wing – Micah Garrett West Linn HS
Garrett is part of a very talented freshmen group at West Linn. As the season went on, his playing time increased significantly for the Lions who ended up finishing 3rd in state. For the season, Garrett averaged nearly 5 points a game and flashed a shooting ability and floor game that suggests his future is bright.
Wing – Emorej Lynk Kennedy HS
Lynk, an athletic 6’3 wing averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in leading class 2A Kennedy within a game of the state tournament. A very difficult match up in his league, as his perimeter shooting and ball handling improves, Lynk should be a regular on all state ballots.
Forward – Payton Richardson Western Mennonite HS
Richardson was arguably the best player on the team that was ranked #1 for most of the year before eventually losing in the 2A state semifinals. A versatile player who averaged in double figures, has the ability to score around the basket as well as knock down perimeter shots.
Forward – Aidan Clark South Eugene HS
Many consider the 6’7 Clark to be the best prospect in the class of 2020. He showed signs of living up to that potential while starting for the Axeman and helping lead them a 2nd place finish in their league and a state playoff berth. An inside/outside threat, expect him to emerge as dominant post player in the coming years.
