Metro Challenge Scouting: Underclassmen Part 2
HYATTSVILLE, MD — The fourth annual Metro Challenge showcased 60 of the best prospects from the greater Baltimore/Washington D.C. region at DeMatha Catholic High School on Saturday for a day of competition and exposure. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is the second part of our underclassmen scouting report! All stats referenced were provided courtesy of http://www.legitstats.com/
G JAHMIR YOUNG | ST. MARY’S RYKEN ‘19
Jahmir Young was very efficient on both ends of the floor at the Metro Challenge. Young recorded 10 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, and zero turnovers in a win for his team during the final game set. The lefty is still getting more comfortable with his three point shot, but is very good in the middle areas. Young is a creative finisher around the rim, and displays good body control to go along with sneaky explosiveness.
G ANTHONY HARRIS | PAUL VI ‘19
Anthony Harris quietly contributed in multiple areas at the Metro Challenge, and finished just outside the top 10 in scoring average among all campers. Harris is a crafty finisher who demonstrates a strong motor and good strength to go along with an advanced feel and offensive skill set.
G/F WILL THOMAS | MT. CARMEL ‘19
Will Thomas continues to impress at virtually every camp he attends, and is on track to be one of the biggest stock boosters in his class. The active 6’6 wing is literally ambidextrous, and loves to get up and down the floor. Thomas is athletic, and very versatile.
F/C CHARLES THOMPSON | SSSAS ‘19
Charles Thompson finished top four among all campers in blocked shots and field goal percentage. The 6’9 big man has good hands, and strong fundamentals. Thompson is a confident defender, and will only get better as he gets stronger and continues to grow into his body.
G JEREMY ROACH | PAUL VI ‘20
Jeremy Roach is an elite athlete, and he plays an aggressive yet mature brand of basketball. The super explosive guard has good size at 6’1, and is still growing and getting stronger. Roach is a confident three level scorer, and a very good shooter off the dribble and from the catch. Roach finished second in the event in field goal percentage, first in three point percentage, top five in made three point field goals, and top ten in scoring average. And he’s still just a freshman. Think about that for a second.
G/F EARL TIMBERLAKE | RCCA ‘20
Earl Timberlake absolutely stole the show in the last game set. The 6’5 wing has great length, and even better defensive potential. Timberlake is athletic, and has a high motor. Timberlake can be very explosive, and is very good in transition. The dynamic lefty is a creative passer and finisher at the rim. Timberlake led the camp in field goal percentage, and was top six in scoring average, three point percentage, made field goals, defensive rebounds, and free throw shooting.
