HYATTSVILLE, MD — The fourth annual Metro Challenge showcased 60 of the best prospects from the greater Baltimore/Washington D.C. region at DeMatha Catholic High School on Saturday for a day of competition and exposure. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is part one of our 2018 scouting report! All stats referenced were provided courtesy of http://www.legitstats.com/
PG JARED BYNUM | GEORGETOWN PREP ‘18 (SJU)
Jared Bynum finished top five in points, assists, and made threes among all campers. Can score off the dribble and from the catch. Very alert defensively. Small, but good enough athlete. Can score from various angles, and finish with both hands.
G BRENDAN ADAMS | CALVERT HALL ‘18
Brendan Adams showcased improving athletic ability throughout camp. He’s a 3 level scorer. Great off the bounce, and an explosive finisher. Needs to continue to improve defensively, and become more disciplined on that end.
G WYNSTON TABBS | ST. MARY’S RYKEN ‘18
Wynston Tabbs helped himself perhaps more than anyone else with his performance at camp. Dances with the ball. Was second in the camp in scoring (21 PPG), and first in free throws made/attempted. Crafty finisher in traffic, but still inconsistent as a long-range shooter. Good in PNR. Quick and active hands defensively. Good at stripping the ball. Good feel.
G PRENTISS HUBB | GONZAGA ‘18
Prentiss Hubb recently narrowed down his recruitment to six schools: Villanova, Notre Dame, Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia, and Kansas. He’s a very explosive finisher. Always probing. Applies constant pressure on defense. Vocal. Communicator.
F LAQUILL HARDNETT | PERRY HALL ‘18
LaQuill Hardnett stands 6’8 and is very comfortable operating as a point-forward. Versatile. Sneaky strong. Athletic. High motor. Crashes glass. Active. Shot is improving, and he’s becoming more confident. Will still need to continue to work on his range and consistency.
G/F MEZIE OFFURUM | GEORGETOWN PREP ‘18
Mezie Offurum has bulked up, and owns a great blend of size and skill at about 6’6. Offurum has solid footwork, and can score w/back to the basket. Moves well w/o the ball. Becoming more and more explosive. Boxes out, and exhibits good fundamentals.
