Louisiana Top 28: Class 2A All Tournament Teams
First Team:
Josh LeBlanc 6’6 2018 F Madison Prep
LeBlanc made as good a case as any to be awarded MVP for 2A with his play on both sides of the ball. He did a fantastic job securing rebounds and blocking shots, as he finished averaging 6.5 blocks in the Top 28 With all of the talent that Madison Prep has, he wasn’t relied on much to score, but he still had 12 points in the finale.
Mylik Wilson 6’3 2019 G Rayville
Wilson is a young guard that can fill it up in a hurry. He can score from virtually anywhere on the court, and was Rayville’s leading scorer this season, averaging 16 ppg. Oh, and in a game this season he had a 360 dunk. As a sophomore!
Christavious Thomas 6’5 2018 F North Caddo
Thomas is a do-it-all forward with a game similar to LeBlanc’s, as he is relied on to defend, block shots, and rebound, and he does it all at a very high level. In the semifinal matchup against Rayville, he finished with 21 points and 15 rebound, showing to be a monster finisher around the goal as well as the ability to step out to 15 feet and hitting the jumper.
JaMarkus Wilson 6’4 2019 F Rayville
Wilson was the best player for Rayville in the state championship game, finishing with 20 points and proving to be a beast in the paint and in the post. I am excited to see Wilson continue to get better going forward, and see him continue to transition to the wing.
Jharon Whitfield 6’3 2018 G Madison Prep MVP
Whitfield proved this weekend just how good he is capable of being, as he was the best player on the court playing alongside three high major D1 players. He was the leading scorer for Madison Prep in both games, and at times was simply unguardable from getting to the rim and finishing.
Second Team:
Josh Anderson 6’4 2017 F Madison Prep (Western Kentucky commit)
It should really show just how special Madison Prep was this season, when the 2nd best player in the state for 2017, and a consensus top 50 prospect in the country was at best the 3rd best player for Madison Prep all weekend long. Madison Prep didn’t rely on Anderson as much as they have earlier in the year, and that should tell you everything you need to know.
Michael Williams 6’0 2017 G Rayville
Williams is a headstrong lead guard that spend the majority of the night with the ball in his hands, and did a great job of setting up his teammates for easy buckets. He totalled seven assists in the state championship game, and played great defense on the other end.
Kobe Julien 6’5 2018 G Madison Prep
Julien is a 6’5-6’6 SG that can stroke it from downtown with the best of them. He was Madison Prep’s second leading scorer in the state finale, and finished the game with 14 points including two made 3s.
Tywan Polidore 6’1 2018 F West St. Mary
Polidore was the best player for a West St. Mary team that was simply outmatched in the semifinal. As a 13 seed, they upset teams back to back on the road in order to reach the Top 28, but they simply ran out of gas, luck, and talent that had gotten them to that point.
Cherrod Hill 6’3 2017 F North Caddo
Hill is another headstrong lead guard that did a good job of setting up his teammates, most notably Chris Thomas. He played good defense, as well as finished the game with 12 points, the second highest on the team.
