Getting to know 2018 G Devon Knaub
2018 Oviedo guard Devon Knaub plays a lot bigger than his 5’9″, 145 lbs.
He even admitted that he feels like he’s 6’4″ and that he plays with a chip on his shoulder.
In two seasons for the Lions, Knaub has averaged 10.5 points per game including 11.5 as a sophomore and 9.1 this past season. His confidence is growing and it is clear on the court.
“This season had a lot of learning points in my game,” Knaub told Prep Hoops Florida. “I learned not just how to be a leader but also lead by example and set a tone for myself and my teammates to play at and compete at a high level every night we went out.
“My game grew by just knowing how to score and create space and get to any spot I want to have on the floor. Also, knowing how to tip balls on defense and be an annoying defender and play the passing lanes much better.”
Knaub says he started playing basketball before he could even walk on a little Fisher-Price hoop while sitting down. That’s commitment right there.
He’ll be playing his first travel season with Team M.O.A.M. where he wants to grow as a player, wake everyone up and earn offers.
Knaub pointed to his leadership, ability to make the right reads and expose people on defense. He’s aiming to improve his defense and continue to build strength to his body.
No offers have but Stetson and Alcorn State have shown interest in him as of late.
Look for Knaub to be the top guy for Oviedo this season after two solid years. He is a confident player and a very nice kid, which is a good mix. This is a big senior season for Knaub.
